Job Description

Working under the direction of a team leader,Growers will be performing tasks in the growing processes performed within each Pod including but not limited to; defoliation, transplanting as required, harvest and trimming. 

Must enforce all regulatory requirements under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR). 

With assistance from the Master Cultivator and other senior members of the cultivation team, support and help develop and maintain cultivation procedures, protocols and nutrient regiments specific to each strain within the Pod. 

Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with all Health Canada Regulations. Ensure all batch records for the Pod are completed as per direction from your team lead.  Support the team lead to help manage plant scheduling and organization to accurately plan daily, weekly and monthly tasks with input and assistance from senior cultivation team.

ABOUT YOU: You are physically fit and able to lift to 30 lbs. You are flexible to work variable shifts to meet business requirements and have a mode of reliable transportation- your own car.   You love learning something new everyday and derive satisfaction from seeing the plant though through the full life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

On a daily basis, adhere to plant movement schedules, harvest schedules and fertigation schedules. Provide assistance to the other specialists as required under the direction of the Master Cultivator.  Support the team lead with counts for all cultivation inventory and supplies and request purchase orders when restocking of Pod is necessary. Provide support to team lead with Health Canada and other necessary staff during Audits.  Assist in maintaining a sanitary and organized work environment for all Cultivation Staff Teams. Communicate with the team lead and other necessary parties to ensure efficient and effective completion of required tasks, adhere to deadlines/schedules and ensure compliance is being maintained within the Cultivation Department.

Candidates with the following knowledge will have strong consideration:

  • Ability to identify and diagnose pests, molds/mildews and plant deficiencies and notify the Integrated Crop management team to make recommendations while abiding by Health Canada Regulations regarding treatments
  • Strong understanding of nutrient systems and plant structure
  • Ability to document all processes associated with the plants from seed through to harvest
  • Understanding of cloning, seed propagation and genetics is desired
  • Willingness to maintain an open mind and learn new techniques
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to adapt to changing situations
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to deal with all types of personalities
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of computers

Extended Duties & Requirements

Strong knowledge or experience of large scale commercial greenhouse operations including nutrient requirements, growing media, lighting and environmental requirements would be desired. Strong understanding of cannabis plant genetics and structures; Indica vs Sativa vs Hybrid strains and their respective care required. 

 

  • Ideal candidates must be able to obtain Health Canada/RCMP Security Clearance to obtain Responsible Person in Charge (RPIC) Clearance.
  • 2 or more years of commercial grow experience or practical commercial greenhouse growing experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of large scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, and air flow. 
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi.
  • Previous experience working in trim and harvest would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, with strong attention to detail is required. 
  • You are would be required to wear appropriate PPE during all activities. 
  • Must read, understand and strictly adhere to the ACMPR, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Production Practices (GPP) and all of Sundial’s SOPs.

Education

 

  • Degree from a recognized horticultural program or Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture sciences is highly desired, however a combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Experience within the industry is an asset, however all applications will be considered.
